The Sherry Family Thanksgiving Adventure: Part 3: Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving with The Sherry family.  We stayed with Leif's dad's sister, Robyn, and her husband, Tom.  We were joined by Leif's folks and his younger sister, Erin.

We had a really lovely time in Lake Mills: good visit, good weather, good relaxation, good family!

 

I'm really glad that Leif hunts and it gets us up to Wisconsin pretty regularly.  I even look forward to Liam learning the skill!

Sherry Family Thanksgiving Adventure: Part 2: Wisconsin Dells & Cabin

In order for the kids and me to get from Chicago to meet Leif in Wisconsin Dells, WI, we took an Amtrak Train!  Another exciting mode of transportation!!!

There wasn't much for us to do in the Dells, since we were there off-season.  We wandered around a couple of tourist shops and ate lunch here, at Monk's Bar--a Sherry Man's Traditional Drinking Spot:

That evening, we went swimming at an indoor pool, which is enough fun to make whole trip worthwhile for a kid!  It was a nice time for just the four of us to chill out :)

 

The next day, we made a trip out to the Sherry cabin just north of the Dells.  This cabin was constructed by Leif's Grandma and Grandpa Sherry without one power tool!  It has since had the lower half of the siding replaced due to rot, but it still has no power, gas, or running water.  It has a pot-belly stove and a fireplace to keep one plenty warm for the coldest of hunting seasons (though completely unnecessary this year!).

It was a beautiful day!  Now, off to Lake Mills, WI, to the home of Uncle Tom & Aunt Robyn.  Post coming shortly...

The Sherry Family Thanksgiving Adventure : Part 1 : Chicago

We left Shreveport at 5:30 in the evening, travelled for 14 hours, and arrived in Chicago just in time for rush hour!  But, man, I love this town.

 

Leif left me and the kiddos with our friends, Aaron & Coco, and took off for his family's hunting weekend in Wisconsin.  We were there briefly, but had some amazing adventures!

 

After braving H&M on Michigan Avenue, we walked to the Brown Line for Liam to ride his first train around the downtown loop.  We had no destination, just an experience!

We got off at Wabash and walked over the bridge back to Aaron & Coco's condo:

On Saturday, Liam took his first city bus ride to the zoo!

 

So, he likes this hoodie (thanks to cousin Henry!)...you'll see a lot of it.

 

When I got weary, Aaron took over the Baby Bjorn.  Good practice for their baby coming in May!!!
